You’ll find this story is a bit of a combination of the two – there’s a bit more swearing than KUA, but it’s a little cleaner than AP. Like both, it’s about growing up, finding and accepting yourself, being with people who bring out the best in you, and getting the guy that you might not think you want but that you need and, more importantly, needs you. Hope you enjoy. Please be aware that this story is set in Australia and therefore uses Australian English spelling and syntax. Not recommended for younger readers due to mature content.

This is a work of satirical fiction. Keep that in mind and you'll tolerate it. Perhaps find yourself smiling at the thought of it. Maybe like it enough to invite it to your brother's wedding at the family vineyard. Definitely just as friends, though. Who cares what Babushka says?Alright. Enough of that. I can't keep it up.Lottie's father died (some time vaguely in the past) and her widowed mother is said to drink a lot of wine. Alex is, I guess, uncomfortable in the family home, but at least he has his aint (the Headmistress) and his Babushka.These details are there because some such are always present in a YA romance. The specifics here do not matter.Why does this work? Because the narrator knows how cheesy it all is, just as well as we readers do, but falls for it anyway. Being familiar with the (many) tropes of the romcom on display here, I enjoyed this quite a bit.
